German delegation visited Chisinau to search for mobility partners

Delegates of the National Erasmus+ Agency and several German Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) visited Chisinau to identify partners amongst Moldovan universities for future mobility projects within Erasmus+.

During two days of work – the 7th and 8th of December, representatives of the German delegation presented the following institutions: Saarland University, University of Public Administration from Kehl and University of Applied Sciences in Schmalkalden and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The information seminar gathered around 60 people representating 18 Moldovan Higher Education Institutions, including universities from Balti, Cahul and Comrat. HEIs from Moldova expressed a high interest in academic mobility projects (both for staff and students), as well as in Capacity Building projects.

In her opening remarks, Nadejda Velisco, the Head of the Department for Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, welcomed the interest of universities from Germany in partnerships with Moldova. Mrs. Velisco also presented the Moldovan education system and the latest novelties in the domain.

Markus Symmank, head of the Mobility Department within the German Erasmus+ Agency, urged universities from Republic of Moldova to work hard on internationalization and to establish as many international partnerships as possible.

“The world we live in is getting more and more competitive, but this doesn’t mean we all have to do the same thing. You have to find your niche, identify the things you are missing, you need to have ambitions and develop strategies in order to fulfill them”, said Markus Symmank in his speech to the audience.

The second part of the seminar was dedicated to bilateral meetings. Moldovan HEIs representatives interacted directly with the delegates of the universities from Germany and identified, during discussions, common interests and subsequent actions.

The visit of the German delegation to Chisinau is related to the launch of the 2016 Erasmus+ Call for Proposals. Universities from Moldova can identify partners from Programme Countries (EU countries + Turkey, Liechtenstein, Norway, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Iceland). The deadline for application for mobility projects is February 2nd, 2016.
